Honest comparison

Should I use Indeed or CRNA Jobs?

When generalist volume matters, and when specialty focus is worth it.

Reach for

Indeed

Maximum coverage when you're willing to filter the noise.

  • The largest job board in the U.S.
  • Universal employer brand recognition
  • Listings in every state and city

Reach for

CRNA Jobs

Only relevant, verified CRNA roles — and no recruiter spam.

  • Every job verified and CRNA-specific
  • CRNA filters: type, setting, specialty
  • Anonymous profile keeps your contact info private

The short answer

If you're doing a broad search and have time to filter through noise, Indeed will show you more listings — including many that aren't actually CRNA jobs or are duplicates posted by multiple agencies. If you want every result to be relevant, verified, and filterable by employment type and specialty, crna.jobs is built for that.

Many CRNAs check both. Indeed for maximum coverage (and accepting you'll wade through noise), crna.jobs for curated, verified search with better tools.

Where Indeed is stronger

Massive volume. Indeed is the largest job board in the U.S. If an employer is hiring anywhere, there's a good chance they posted on Indeed. You'll see more listings than on any specialty board — even if many aren't relevant or are duplicates.

Universal brand recognition. Employers know Indeed. Small hospitals and clinics that might not know about CRNA-specific boards will still post there because "everyone uses Indeed."

Free for candidates. So is crna.jobs, but Indeed has been free forever, and everyone knows it. There's no barrier to searching.

Broad geographic coverage. Indeed has jobs in every state, every city, from every type of employer. If you're searching somewhere obscure, Indeed might be the only place with listings.

Why Indeed is frustrating for CRNA search

Too much noise. Search "CRNA" on Indeed and you'll get travel nursing ads, non-CRNA anesthesia roles, generic "healthcare professional" listings, and jobs that say "CRNA or equivalent." You're constantly filtering out irrelevant results.

Duplicate listings everywhere. Indeed scrapes jobs from company sites, staffing agencies, and other boards. That means you see the same job posted five times by different agencies — or listed on Indeed long after it was filled elsewhere.

No CRNA-specific filters. Indeed's filters are generic — job title, location, and broad job types like full-time or contract — not the distinctions that matter to CRNAs: locum vs. PRN vs. permanent, practice setting (hospital vs. ASC vs. office-based), or specialty focus (cardiac, OB, peds, pain). It treats all healthcare jobs the same.

Recruiter spam. Upload your resume on Indeed and you'll get flooded with calls and emails from staffing agencies, many low-quality. There's no privacy control — your contact info is public the moment you post it.

Employers post vague listings. On Indeed, you'll see listings like "Anesthesia Provider" that could be for an anesthesiologist, a CRNA, or an AA. You waste time applying to jobs that aren't actually for CRNAs, only to find out later.

No verification of active jobs. Indeed doesn't verify that listings are still open. That "posted 2 days ago" job might have been filled weeks ago — the system just auto-reposted it.

What CRNA Jobs does differently

Every job is verified and CRNA-specific. If it's on crna.jobs, it's a real CRNA role from a verified employer. No anesthesiologist posts, no AA roles, no "nurse anesthetist or equivalent" confusion. And when a role is no longer active, it's marked closed rather than left up to waste your time.

CRNA-specific filters. Search by employment type (permanent, locum tenens, PRN), state, city, practice setting, and specialty focus. Save those searches and get weekly email alerts when matching jobs are posted.

No duplicate listings. Each job appears once, posted by the actual employer or their designated recruiter. No five copies of the same job from different agencies.

Anonymous candidate profiles. Create a profile with your credentials and preferences to join a privacy-first candidate pool. Verified recruiters will be able to reach you with specific opportunities — while your name, current employer, and contact info stay hidden until you choose to respond. No spam calls.

Application tracking. Apply with one click and track all your applications in a dashboard. See which jobs you've applied to, when you applied, and whether a recruiter has viewed your application. Everything organized in one place.

Locum pay calculator. Free tool to estimate take-home pay by state after taxes, so you can compare locum offers accurately. Covers all 50 states with state-specific tax calculations.

What you give up with CRNA Jobs

crna.jobs doesn't have Indeed's massive volume. We're a specialty board focused on quality over quantity — you'll see fewer listings overall, but every one is relevant and verified. If you want absolute maximum coverage and don't mind sorting through noise and duplicates, Indeed will show you more results.

We also don't have Indeed's 20+ years of universal brand recognition. Small employers who've always posted on Indeed might not know about us yet. But every employer on crna.jobs is specifically hiring CRNAs — they're not posting generic "healthcare professional" ads and hoping CRNAs apply.

Should you use both?

You can, if you want maximum coverage and have time to filter. Use Indeed for volume — just be ready to sort through noise, duplicates, expired listings, and non-CRNA jobs. Use crna.jobs for relevant, verified jobs with better search tools and no spam.

Most CRNAs find that crna.jobs covers the majority of legitimate opportunities with far less effort. They might check Indeed occasionally to make sure they're not missing anything, but it's not their primary search — the time spent filtering isn't worth it.

Our recommendation

If you're actively job hunting, start with crna.jobs. Set up saved searches with weekly alerts for your target locations and employment types. Create an anonymous profile to join the candidate pool, built so verified recruiters will be able to reach you without the spam. Use the pay calculator to compare locum offers.

If you want to check Indeed too, go ahead — just don't rely on it as your only source. You'll spend more time filtering than searching, and the best jobs will usually appear on crna.jobs anyway, verified and organized.
